Journal entry templates
Save the account selections from a recurring manual journal (monthly rent, depreciation accruals, prepaid expense releases) once, then re-use the shape every period without re-picking accounts.
What gets saved
A template stores the accounts, debit/credit side, and line descriptions — not the amounts. You always confirm the actual figures at posting time, so a stale default never silently lands in your books.
Saving a new template
When you post a manual journal entry, tick 'Save this entry as a template for reuse' at the bottom of the form and give it a name (e.g. 'Monthly rent'). The template is created in the same transaction as the journal posts — no separate step.
Using a saved template
On the Journal entries list, click Templates to open the picker. Search by name, then click Use — the new-entry form opens pre-filled with the template's accounts and descriptions. Fill in amounts and post.
Searching past entries
The Journal entries list now has a free-text search alongside the date and account filters. Search matches entry numbers and descriptions, case-insensitive.
